ARCO ARENA TO UPGRADE FOOD OFFERINGS
November 2, 2000
Copyright 2000 MediaVenturesFans visiting ARCO Arena in Sacramento will get a taste of more fresh fruits and vegetables and less of the canned variety this season. In addition, the arena has boosted its kitchen staff from four to 16 and wants to hire five more chefs.
It cost the Maloof family, which owns the arena and the Kings, $700,000 on facilities in addition to the staff.
Those in premium seats can get chilled Gulf Shrimp for $35 per dozen, Brie stuffed with sun-dried tomato pesto for $48 and a sushi boat serving 10 for just $98.
Along with upgrading its own food, the arena is inviting local restaurant operators into the building. A local Japanese restaurant will sell sushi from a kiosk along with desserts from local bakeries. New selections from California wineries will also be available.
But not all the new offerings are intended to be haute cuisine. For catered events fans can get Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
